To begin, it is recommended to wash your shirts before starting and ensure they are damp. Lay the shirt out on a flat surface and choose your spiral point, then pinch it with your fingers and twist until the entire shirt is in a tight spiral disc. Use rubber bands to tie the disc tightly. The tighter the disc, the more white there will be, while the looser it is, the more color there will be. Each wedge can be used to direct the fabric paint.
After applying the paint, let it set for 1 hour. Then, store each shirt in a tightly sealed bag to prevent the colors from bleeding onto other projects. Remember, these are permanent colors, so do not store all your projects together. After 24 hours, rinse the shirts under water without removing the rubber bands during the first rinse. Continue rinsing until there is no more dye in the water, then remove the rubber bands and rinse again to remove any excess dye.
For an extra step, soak the shirts in a bowl with water and a little dish soap to help remove any remaining excess color, ensuring the colors don't bleed into each other when you wash the shirts. Finally, throw the shirts in the washing machine and enjoy the beautiful results.
